European architectural competition for students
Chemnitz has been declared European Capital of Culture for the year 2025.
During this event, the Chamber of Architects of Saxony (supported by the City of Chemnitz and the association Baukultur für Chemnitz e.V.) is launching an architectural competition for the redesign of an important district in Chemnitz city center. This competition is being initiated by the committee of the Chamber of Architects “Chemnitz – Capital of Culture 2025” and will take place on the highly symbolic Karl-Marx-Kopf site. The time frame extends from 01.04.2025 to 30.09.2025.
The aim of the competition is to collect innovative ideas for the ongoing development of this central and former socialist district. Students of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture are invited to contribute their proposals and visions for the future design of Chemnitz city center to unfold the urban potential and thus contribute to the city’s architectural and cultural flourishing as European Capital of Culture 2025. We are looking for creative ideas that will drive forward the development of this important part of the city.
The best works will be awarded prizes, and the winning participants will receive an endowment. There is also the opportunity to go on an inspiring excursion to Chemnitz to experience the city and the district first-hand.
Admission will soon be possible:
